Canadian University Dubai (CUD) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Canada’s University of Windsor to establish new cross-continental collaborations in higher education. The five-year agreement will see the two organizations cooperate in developing programs that support scientific research and academic and cultural exchange.
With 190 undergraduate programs and 65 graduate programs, the University of Windsor’s portfolio will present a wide range of opportunities for students and researchers starting at CUD. The agreement is expected to promote the interchange of scholars for both study and research and provide exchange opportunities for members of the universities’ professional staff. It will also support joint research projects in areas of mutual interest as well as research information and material sharing.
The MoU was signed on behalf of CUD by President and Vice-Chancellor Prof. Karim Chelli, who said, “We are delighted to extend our growing portfolio of Canadian partnerships through this agreement with the University of Windsor. This is a natural alliance that reflects our shared global outlook to higher education, and we look forward to exploring the opportunities that this collaboration will present.”
A regionally and globally engaged institution, the University of Windsor is home to over 16,000 students and is located in one of Canada’s most culturally diverse cities. The institution offers a wide variety of programs across an extensive range of disciplines, from business, science, and engineering, to niche subject areas such as human kinetics.
Signing the MoU on behalf of the University of Windsor was President and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Robert Gordon, who said, “An international education prepares students to live and work in a globalized world. Our partnership with the Canadian University Dubai will provide students with the opportunity to build competencies and skills that employers are seeking in today’s increasingly interconnected economies.”
This agreement broadens CUD’s network of international higher education partnerships, which extends across the globe from the west coast of Canada to Southeast Asia. The University’s expanding network of partnerships with world-renowned institutions reflects its growing international repute, which was acknowledged in the 2022 QS World University Rankings when the institution was positioned in the top 2% of universities worldwide.
